Message from Mrs Kingston We have noticed increasing levels of playground chat about the game Fortnite— Battle Royale which is a PEGI 12+ gun battle game which requires players to work as a team. The main risks to children are interacting with strangers and also making costly in-app purchases. If your child is talking about Fortnite, please follow this link to find out more about it. https:// fortnite-battle-royal-parents-guide-keepkids-safe-gaming/

Welcome to Year 5!

What is happening in Term 2?

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you had a lovely half term break. Term 2 has got off to an exciting start with the launch of our Space topic. The children have eagerly shared what they already know about space and identified areas that they would like to find out more about over the course of the term. For more details about our term 2 curriculum, please see the curriculum web (overleaf).

As the weather gets colder, please do ensure that your child comes to school with appropriate warm clothing and a coat.

Parent’s evening is next week and I look forward to seeing you and discussing the progress of your child. As always, please do continue to catch me at the end of the school day if you would like to speak to me about anything during the term. You are also very welcome to join us each Thursday morning from 8.40am for our ‘stay and read’ or ‘stay and count’ sessions.

Miss Ormsby

PE sessions will take place on Thursday and Friday afternoons. This term we will be focusing on Dance and Gymnastics. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school at all times and that items are clearly labelled. Their kit should consist of: a white polo, black joggers and black daps.

As the pool is closed for refurbishment, Year 5 will start swimming in term 3.

Homework is sent home every Friday and alternates between comprehension, writing and maths. It should be returned by the following Wednesday. Children will also have weekly spelling and times tables homework. A termly overview of these can be found in both your child’s homework book and on the year 5 class page of the schools website.

Attendance and Punctuality

Thank you for supporting us in ensuring that your child is in school and on time. Where possible it is important that children attend school regularly and punctually for the start of the school day.
